General information of dog tracker

01.03.2021

Dog tracker in management view shows device general information (the title of the device, device IMEI, phone number, icon). Also, it shows the last data from the device:

  • last connection time
  • battery level
  • GSM signal strength (range from 1 up to 5)
  • Fixed GPS number

Last connection time

Shows the time when the tracking device has sent out the last information about its activity. Depending on signal time, the icon is in different colors:

  • time is green – the tracking device is in monitoring mood or has just sent the last signal (received within last 3 minutes);
  • time is black – the tracking device is on stand by mode (signal received in the last 4- 65 minutes);
  • time is red – the tracking device has turned off or out of range (the last signal received more than an hour ago). If it’s possible, check the device.

NB! The time is shown in the map view in the dog information window (by clicking on the dog icon) and the time displayed in the tracing device management window may be different. A map view shows the dog’s last position and time.  The management view of the tracking device displays the last signal received from the tracker, which may not include its location.

GPS signal

Displays the number of fixed satellites from the tracking deviece. Your device must connect to at least 3 to 4 satellites to determine your location. The higher number of fixed satellites, the more accurate location of the tracking device will be displayed.  The maximum number of fixed satellites is 12.

How accurately a device will display  its location in tracking mode depends on several factors:

  • Strenght of GPS signal. The device requires a strong connection to satellites to pinpoint your exact location. Being indoors, the possibility of output required signal strength is small, resulting in a weak signal or no signal at all.   Bad weather conditions also might affect how quickly the device is able to connect.
  • Strenght fluctuations of GPS signal. To receive a fixed satellite is needed to have the same strength of the signal. GPS signal fluctuations are usually caused by a glazed window inside (the gas used in the windows affects GPS signal propagation). The stability of GPS signal is also affected by dogs activities – its movements are sudden, within GPS signals fluctuate on the tracking device while a dog is running.
