The latest issue of Latvian Hunting magazine “Medibas” features an article that describes the strengths and weaknesses of the Huntloc dog tracker, how it compares to the Garmin tracker, and why hunters tend to choose to use both of these trackers together.<\/p>\n

A hunting dog is like a family member to a hunter, therefore it is the duty of the hunter to take care of it, go to its aid, wherever it has ended up. In such cases, dog tracking devices come in handy.<\/p>\n

Hunter Gatis Panavs from Kurzeme firstly choose was a Huntloc dog tracking device for his dog, because its trackers battery life in standby mode is at least 10 days. You only need to activate the tracker when you need to see where the dog is. A Telia SIM card from the Estonian operator is already inserted into the tracker, the Huntloc application must be downloaded to the phone and the dog can be tracked. It is possible to call to the Huntloc dog tracker and hear the sounds around the dogs location, and it is also possible to give voice commands to the dog. The downside of Huntloc is that the device will not work in a very poor mobile network coverage area. Gatis Panavs mentions that in hunting areas there are often no mobile coverage at all, therefore Garmin is also used together with the Huntloc tracking device. In this way, providing peace of mind for yourself – in areas where Huntloc does not work, the location of the dog can be determined with a Garmin tracking device.<\/p>\n

Hunter Kaspars Vais\u013cia mostly uses Huntloc and Garmin dog tracking devices together. Kaspars believes that the advantage of the Huntloc tracking device is that it is possible to see the dog even at a big distance, while Garmin does not have such an option. A big plus is that in the Huntloc application it is possible to see a satellite map where you can add your own hunting objects, such as feeders, salt licks and other hunting infrastructure elements. But Garmin’s biggest advantage is that it doesn’t need cellular coverage.<\/p>\n
